The province of Nova Scotia is located on Canada’s east coast on the Atlantic Ocean. The province plays host to a number of unique Provincial Nomination Programs (PNPs) designed to attract and retain newcomers who will be able to fill gaps in the workforce and contribute meaningfully to local economies and communities.
Candidates who meet the criteria of one of eight different streams can be nominated for Nova Scotia immigration, with a target processing time of three months.

The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream targets highly skilled individuals who intend to live and work in Nova Scotia permanently. In order to qualify, candidates must have at least one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in a high skilled occupation. This program is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration system, enabling successful applicants to receive expedited processing on their immigration applications.
The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream targets Express Entry candidates with work experience in extremely high-demand positions in the province. As of August 2018, this stream is only accepting applications from those with experience as Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 4214).

The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities For Physicians stream allows the province to select candidates who are qualified doctors from the federal Express Entry pool.
The stream specifically targets two National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:
Specialist Physician (NOC 3111).
The Nova Scotia Skilled Worker stream enables Nova Scotia employers to recruit foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are needed in Nova Scotia. If a skilled worker receives a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer, they may be able to submit an application through this stream in order to facilitate their immigration process.
Nova Scotia’s Occupations in Demand Pilot targets intermediate-skilled jobs in high demand in the province. The target occupations are subject to change depending on labour market demand. It specifically targets jobs under National Occupational Classification (NOC) C.
o NOC 3413 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates).
o NOC 6513 (Food and beverage servers).
o NOC 6711 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations).
o NOC 7511 (Transport truck drivers).
o NOC 7521 (Heavy equipment operators (except crane)).
o NOC 7611 (Construction trades helpers and labourers).
The Nova Scotia Physician Stream assists the province’s public health system to hire general practitioners, family physicians, and specialist physicians. It is designed to help recruit and retain doctors for positions the province has been unable to fill with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
o If you are living in Canada, you must provide proof of your legal status as a temporary worker or visitor.
o If you apply from outside Canada, you must provide proof that you have legal status in your country of residence.
o If you have lost your status, you are not eligible to apply until your status has been restored.
Written approved opportunity with the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) or the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre as a:
o General practitioner and family physician (NOC 3112) OR
o Specialist physician (NOC 3111)
The approved opportunity must be on official NSHA or IWK letterhead and must:
o Be signed and dated by a person authorized to hire physicians at the NSHA or IWK
o Be signed and dated by the applicant who is accepting the opportunity
o Indicate eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NS
o Indicate that the applicant is eligible to apply for privileges and credentials with NSHA and the IWK
A copy of an Education Credential Assessment or proof of education and medical training required for licensure in Nova Scotia.
The ability to perform the job in one of Canada’s official languages as evidenced by an employment offer from the NSHA or the IWK
The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream targets experienced business owners or senior business managers who are willing to invest in a Nova Scotia business which they will manage. In order to qualify, applicants must have a significant net worth and be willing to use their business management experience to start a new business or purchase an existing business in Nova Scotia. After operating their Nova Scotia business for one year, applicants may be nominated for permanent resident status.
The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream targets recent graduates of Nova Scotia universities and colleges who have started or bought a Nova Scotia business and operated it for at least one year. If an applicant meets these requirements and intends to settle in Nova Scotia permanently, they may qualify for a provincial nomination through this stream.
